La Aurora Cigar Institute

The “Cigar Institute” focuses its efforts on education, communication and dissemination of the culture of tobacco, understanding it to be an inseparable part of the development of Dominican society and its agro cultural practices.
It places special emphasis on all aspects related to the understanding of the different varieties of plants, soils, organoleptic characteristics, leagues, tasting of cigars and through pairings between cigars and various agro-food specialties.

TARGET AUDIENCE OF OUR COURSES

The courses taught in the “Cigar Institute” are aimed at different profiles. This includes the habitual consumer of this type of product who wants to understand and learn how to properly taste a cigar in order to enjoy this wonderful experience; cigar sommeliers who wish to expand their knowledge by understanding the influence of the combination of different agro-food specialties and drinks with cigars, and industry specialists such as owners of specialty stores, industry journalists or sellers.

METHODOLOGY

The model used is based on the application of theoretical and practical content of the relevant modules for participants, once they complete the two parts into which the course is divided, understand and expand the agro cultural practices of tobacco in the Dominican Republic and master and enjoy the exciting world of tobacco in all its forms.

Discover how climate, soil and seed varieties influence the organoleptic characteristics of a cigar. Discover and experience in order to be able to fully enjoy the sensory aspects of this wonderful product, to understand when the smoke is well balanced, to assess the degree of strength of tobacco and understand the complex process of making a Cigar.

Discover the different cultivation techniques, understand the tobacco plant and leaf, learn the history of this product from the hand of one of its main characters. You will understand how and why different varieties and plant parts are mixed to make the ideal cigar and develop your own blend based on your tastes and preferences.

This training program was developed for those who only have a few hours in their busy schedules; it will be held daily in our facilities. These modules try to connect students to the world of the Premium Cigar by providing basic foundations that can be expanded with total freedom and flexibility of schedule depending on your availability.

OPERATING AND COURSE CERTIFICATE

Attendance at the “Part 1” and “Part 2” courses will entitle students to receive the “Certificate of Attendance” award from La Aurora Cigar Factory. The certificate is physically delivered to all participants at the end of the course in which they are enrolled.

Participants who have completed and passed the knowledge assessment for the “Part 1” and “Part 2” courses will receive the “Dominican Tobaccos Expert” certificate issued by La Aurora Cigar Factory endorsed by the Dominican Tobacco Institute.

To receive the first “Official Certificate of La Aurora Cigar Factory” endorsed by the Dominican Tobacco Institute the participant must pass the knowledge assessment to be delivered to each of the participants on the last day of the Part 1 course. It will be conducted with the rigor it deserves in order to ensure proper training of the participant.

The result of the accrediting tests of the participants’ degree of knowledge will be mailed to those attending the courses after evaluation of their assessments by the teaching staff of the “La Aurora Cigar Institute” and the “Dominican Tobacco Institute”.

To receive the second “Official Certificate of La Aurora Cigar Factory” endorsed by the Dominican Tobacco Institute the participant must pass the knowledge assessment to be delivered to each of the participants on the last day of the “Part 2”course. It will be conducted with the rigor it deserves in order to ensure proper training of the participant.

Modular courses will last about two and a half hours and attendees will not receive any type of accreditation.
